Learn more about the DDS 500 Lumbar Traction Belt and its treatment options!

What is the DDS 500?

The DDS 500 lumbar traction belt is the first patented spinal-air decompression brace LSO with anterior and posterior rigid panels. The most versatile back brace of its kind. The DDS 500 brace functions to provide therapeutic relief when inflated with air by anchoring up underneath the rib cage pushing upwards and down against the pelvic girdle pushing downwards. This action stretches the torso vertically diverting the weight-bearing forces away and reducing pressure within the lumbar spine region.

The DDS 500 decompression brace is an ideal solution for patients who cannot tolerate the discomforts of a rigid body jacket yet require similar support. It is especially valuable for pre- and post-surgery; as the patient progresses and requires less support, the detachable rigid panels can be removed to create a semi-rigid support.

Unlike traditional decompression braces that simply squeeze the torso and provide temporary relief, the DDS 500 brace provides active rehabilitation by promoting mobility and regeneration of the afflicted areas. The lumbar traction belt can be discreetly worn under clothing allowing you to preform daily activities and enabling those with an active lifestyle to enjoy leisure activities pain-free.

Successfully Treated Conditions

We define “success” as patients who have been able to resume normal daily activities.

  • Herniated/bulging discs

  • Lumbar acute/chronic sprain

  • Spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis

  • Compression fracture in the lumbar region

  • Low back pain due to physical and/or psychological conditions

  • Failed surgery syndrome

  • Degenerative disc disease

  • Spinal stenosis

  • Sciatica

  • Congenital weakness in waist

  • Lumbago

  • Muscle spasm and guarding

Advantages

  • Pain relief for herniated and bulging discs, muscle spasms, spondylosis, sciatica, and spinal stenosis

  • Increase disc height

  • Maximize prevention of re-herniation

  • Decreases axial loading

  • Congenital weakness in waist

  • Low back pain caused by obesity

  • Effective for pre-surgical discomfort

  • Helps maintain proper posture (improper posture places the upper body weight on the discs that causes back pain)

  • Facilitate the remolding and healing of disc by diverting the weight bearing forces away from the lumbar spine

  • Lightweight and comfortable allowing a full range of motion

  • Can be worn discreetly under clothing

  • Made of 100% highly durable soft cotton lining

Contradictions

Lumbar traction units have shown to be effective to decrease symptoms with many different diagnoses. However, there are several instances where use of lumbar traction is not appropriate and/or contraindicated. Generally, treatments should be discontinued if symptoms increase OR if pain or paresthesia is experienced after a lumbar traction treatment

  • Abdominal or chest compression

  • Cardiovascular disease: uncontrolled hypertension, aortic aneurysm, congestive heart failure

  • Cerebrovascular diseases

  • Major spinal surgery

  • Severe Osteoporosis

  • Tumor near lumbar region

  • Pregnancy
