    Relief for Lower Back Pain

    By Admin | Acute Pain, Chronic Pain | 0 comment | 14 July, 2015 | 0

Lower back pain can be a nuisance or even debilitating.  Trying to focus on the work in front of you while fighting through any level of pain is at the very least distracting. Instead of constantly shifting or getting up to give yourself a break, use the ComfortWave.

You do not have to wear a back brace. The ComfortWave is a device that administers inferential current therapy (IFC). Unlike other devices with similar promises, IFC treatments are not just at the surface or skin level. They penetrate deeply into the cellular level, which promotes recovery. Those who have used the ComfortWave have often been able to wean themselves off harmful medications entirely. This is huge for those whose medications do not allow them to drive or operate machinery.

The ComfortWave is by prescription only, but can be conveniently used at home. Inferential stimulators allow you to do several daily treatments. Doing a treatment before you go to bed can greatly improve your quality of sleep. Can you imagine going from jarring pain that wakes you up in the middle of the night to a restful and comfortable sleep? Perhaps you suffer from spasms, these can be reduced as well. It is time to get some sleep.

I use my IFC unit mainly on my lower back, on occasion my neck and middle back areas.  I wear my IFC every night on my lower back, which helps me control my pain allowing me to get much needed sleep.  As a rule, I wake up during the night because of pain, turn my unit back on, allowing me to get a couple hours more (maximum) sleep.  But it truly helps me.  Without my IFC unit at night, I have a very difficult time relaxing, not allowing me to sleep and I deal with pain.

Occasionally I also use my IFC unit during the day on my lower back to help me deal with pain.  At first when I received my unit, I thought “Seriously, what is this going to do for me?”  Today, I think “Seriously!  What would I do without my IFC!”

Advanced Therapy Concepts is always so cheerful, helpful and professional!

    The Science behind it all…

The interferential stimulator minimizes impedance levels in the body by delivering medium frequency current of 4000Hz to 4150Hz. This current has the force to pass through the peripheral layer with very little stimulation of the sensory or motor nerves. This current can penetrate deep within the tissue creating physiological effects at the cellular level. The interferential unit operates on an ionization theory, capable of changing the permeability of the plasma membrane through graded potentials. These graded potentials change the electric potential difference of intracellular fluid enough to allow sodium ions (Na+) to cross the plasma membrane and active transport by activation the Na/K+ pump. The pump will begin to control the concentration gradients of sodium (NA+) and potassium (K+) ions within the interstitial fluid. This activity will directly affect the cell content and force the displaced water to exit the swollen cell which will eliminate edema. Inflammation will also be reduced as sodium (Na+) ion activity increases. The blood proteins which were trapped in the extra cellular fluid will be removed by eliminating the sodium (Na+) ion imbalance and increasing oxygen to the area. The oxygen will remove the bradykinin and histamines which cause instant inflammation and remove prostaglandins, a natural pain substance of the body.
